A classroom full of children slowly turned into a playful Christmas world—filled with laughter, rhythm, and curiosity.

As the story unfolded, the children leaned in—listening closely, responding eagerly, and soon becoming part of the journey themselves. There were giggles, repeated rhymes, and moments of surprise as the question lingered in the room… who will bring the gifts now?

About the Story

This is an adaptation inspired by the playful concept from “Oh Dear! Look What I Got!” by Michael Rosen. Santa Snores On begins with a simple but exciting problem—Santa Claus has fallen fast asleep. As the story moves forward, different possibilities emerge, each more imaginative than the last. Through rhythm, repetition, and humor, the children are invited to predict, participate, and shape the story as it unfolds.

Adapted and performed solo by Bansri Pandey, the story becomes a playful exploration of language, imagination, and collective storytelling.

A Shared Experience Through Stories

This session was conducted for Class 5 students as part of the sixth storytelling workshop in an ongoing series organized by the Lions Club of Kathmandu Couples at this school for these students.

The children didn’t just listen—they participated, responded, and created together. Through repetition and rhyming words, they strengthened their language skills while building confidence in expressing themselves.

There were moments of loud laughter, moments of anticipation, and moments where the entire group responded together—turning the storytelling into a shared experience rather than a performance. This is where storytelling becomes powerful—not just in telling a story, but in feeling it together.

For many children, this was their first introduction to Santa Claus and Christmas. The session created a space for cross-cultural learning in a simple and joyful way—without focusing on the religious aspects of the festival. Instead, the children explored the spirit of Christmas through fun, imagination, and storytelling.

As this was the sixth and final session in the series, there was also a sense of celebration. The Lions Club of Kathmandu Couples team brought Santa caps and chocolates for the children, adding to the festive spirit and marking the end of a meaningful journey of storytelling sessions.
