About the Workshop

The workshop on “Where is the Color?” got a chance to meet about 17 students with intellectual disability studying at RFCSID school in Kathmandu. The sensorial experience of the workshop not only enhanced the engagement of the participants but provided them new learning experience. The teachers too enjoyed the performance which gave them a refreshing experience.

“आज हाम्रा छात्रछात्राहरुलाई रंग सम्बन्धी साथ साथै स्थान संग सम्बन्धित भएर गीतको माध्यमबाट सिकाउनु भएको एकदमै उपयोगी लाग्यो। विद्यार्थीहरुले स्वयं सक्रिय भएर रंग रातो, नीलो, पहेंलो, हरियोका साथै तल, माथि, उता यता सम्बन्धी स्थानको समेत ज्ञान सांगीतिक माध्यमबाट सिक्ने अवसर प्राप्त गरे। धेरै धेरै धन्यवाद। यहाँहरुको कामले निरन्तरता पाओस् भन्ने अपेक्षा गर्दछु।” – Mrs.Yashoda Bista, Principal, RFCSID

Music, Rhythm and Colorful props, engage the children and take them on a journey to identify and find colors. Working with Green, Red and Yellow bright scarves, the performers sing with rhythms that children can follow and engage with. Sensorial in nature, the scarves are then handed over to the children who play with these scarves and participate in the performance. The performance activates children’s imagination and sensorial experiences that allows them to engage with the performers in their journey to understand colors and sequence of events which is an integral part of learning for special needs children.
