,

Workshop conducted for young students at Kakshalaya Kindergarten School, Ghattekulo, Kathmandu | July 11, 2025

About the workshop

The workshop was conducted for about 25 students of Nursery and LKG (Age 2.5-4) at Kakshalaya Kindergarten school on July 11, 2025. The workshop began with an introduction to a circular window that each child got a chance to look into. Singing rhymes around a circular rope, they were then further encouraged to work in a team and build a safe space for exploration in the workshop. “Hi! I am a Circle” story was introduced to them using Storyboard technique along with hand-crafted tools and sensorial objects.

“Thank you so much for organising the workshop. Out children truly enjoyed the session and had fun participating. We really appreciate the effort. We are looking forward to more such creative workshops in the future.” – Sushma, Teacher at Kakshalaya Kindergarten school

Students showed engaging participation and learnt not only about the shape, but colors, movements, various motor skill developments and brain boosting experiences. After the storytelling session, the students were given a circular musical instrument, a steel tongue drum, that each student had a chance to play with. The workshop ended with students sketching and coloring circles and creating patterns from their imagination. Students of LKG (Age 3-4) created their own storybook with a story of a circle from their own imaginations.

“It was such a nice event. Very Expressive. Very nice.” – Sinna, Teacher at Kakshalaya Kindergarten School

About the Story ‘Hi! I am a Circle!’

What better way to explain the concept of a circle than a Story about a Circle! “Hi, I am a Circle” is a story that engages the children by showing how a circle changes its color, size, multiplies along the way and moves its position using simple acts of Pressing, Rubbing, Blowing, Tapping and Shaking the storybook. Taking inspiration from the board book ‘Press Here’ by Herve Tullet, this workshop develops the idea further using hand crafted tools and techniques that engages the students, invites them for a sensorial experience and together travel with the Circle in the world of creativity.
