‘Fish, Where is your home?’ – Storytelling Performance for children with Autism at FPCA, Nepal

Performance for children with Autism at the Friends of Parents of Children with Autism (FP CA), Kathmandu, Nepal | June 2, 2025

About the Story

Music, Rhythm and Colorful props, engage the children and take them on a journey to identify and find colors. Working with Green, Red and Yellow bright scarves, the performers sing with rhythms that children can follow and engage with. Sensorial in nature, the scarves are then handed over to the children who play with these scarves and participate in the performance. The same color fish finds itself lost and the children help her find her home in those scarves. The performance activates children’s imagination and sensorial experiences that allows them to engage with the performers in their journey to understand colors and sequence of events which is an integral part of learning for special needs children.

About the Show at FPCA

“Thank you all for this wonderful performance for my special children. Our children loved it. Your amazing energy, creativity and knowing exactly the need for our children with Autism was really commendable. Wish you all the best for your future endeavor.” – Elina Bajracharya, President, FP CA

This storytelling performance got a chance to meet the special children at FPCA (Friends of Parents of Children with Autism) in Kathmandu, Nepal. The sensorial experience of the storytelling not only enhanced the engagement of the participants but provided them new learning experience. The caregivers too enjoyed the performance which gave them a refreshing experience. As for the Joy House team, we always get more joy than we give. To see that our hard work and creative input impacts these children in many layers, it fills our heart with more Joy.

The session was followed by an interactive game where the students were given cutouts of fish with different colors which they had to match with the print of the same color on the wall. This not only gives them a chance to do color and shape matching activity but also gives them a chance to do physical movement.

We are so blessed to get an opportunity to attend your session. As a mum of an autistic child, I found your program really impressive. All of the children really enjoyed and engaged in the program. We hope to work more with you all in future.” – Jyoti Aryal, parent of a child with Autism
