Story of the Rainbow Fish

,

The world of our imagination does not have the same boundaries as our real world. And when these both worlds merge, stories are born. Marcus Pfister created the very famous children’s picture book called ‘The Rainbow Fish’ in 1992, which shows the journey of transformation of the beautiful but selfish rainbow fish into a caring one. Inspired from this beautiful book, we have re-imagined the rainbow fish story to meet the needs of very young children as well as children with learning disabilities, to dive into the sea of colors with sensorial and immersive experiences.

The rainbow fish in our story lives in a beautiful pond where all things are colorful. The white fishes from the Himalayas are visiting and are spellbound by the beauty of the pond and the fish. They want to take home some colors from here as souvenirs. The rainbow fish opens up her treasure of colors where objects of different colors, their variety of textures and sensorial properties are discovered. Not only the Himalayan fishes receive these gifts of colors but they also exchange their white with the rainbow fish who adds the white to her collection with pride. This story is about accepting the differences, sharing and teamwork.

This story is specially designed to be performed for very young audiences of 3-6 years old as well as for children with learning disabilities or special needs. The story uses sensorial elements, music, dance, textures, colors and some magic (secret, can’t be revealed :-)) !

Storytelling is not just about the story. It is about giving new perspectives to see the world around us. With variety of hand-made paper puppets, sensorial objects and immersive experiences, we hope that the rainbow fish ignites the joy of stories amongst the children she meets.
