March 11, 2026 | A storytelling performance for UKG students at Aksharaa School
The beautiful Abhi Hall at Aksharaa School slowly transformed into an underwater storyworld. This performance was conducted for 52 students of UKG at Aksharaa School in Kathmandu.

The children were highly interactive throughout the performance. They responded to the characters, communicated their ideas, helped solve problems inside the story, and worked together to move the story forward.
The storytelling experience encouraged the children to participate actively rather than simply sit and watch. Through collective responses, movement, and imagination, the children became emotionally connected to the characters and the unfolding journey.
Teachers also joined the experience with equal enthusiasm, creating a warm and playful atmosphere inside the hall.
About the Story
माछाको रंगीन सपना (Fish’s Rainbow Dream) is a story about a black-and-white fish who dreams of a colourful world beyond what it has always known.
As the fish begins its journey, it encounters different characters, emotions, and experiences that slowly transform the world around it. Through music, interaction, movement, and imagination, children become part of the fish’s search for colour, friendship, and belonging.
The story gently introduces ideas of identity, curiosity, teamwork, and transformation in a playful and accessible way for young children.

Role-play by Teacher
One of the special moments of the performance was the participation of a teacher in the role of the fairy.
In all performances of this play, the role of the fairy is usually given to a teacher or parent because we believe that the real “fairies” in children’s lives are the people around them—the ones who guide, encourage, and support them every day.
With very little preparation, the teacher stepped into the role naturally and brought warmth, spontaneity, and humour into the story. Her participation helped deepen the children’s connection with the magical world of the performance.

The Experience
The hall remained energetic and lively throughout the session.
Children reacted instantly to moments in the story—laughing loudly, answering questions together, and eagerly helping the characters. Their excitement created a strong sense of collective participation where every child felt included in the experience.
The stage setting, music, and interaction helped create an immersive atmosphere where storytelling felt playful, theatrical, and alive.
For many children and teachers, this was a fresh and memorable way of experiencing stories together.

Concluding Remarks
Stories become most meaningful when children are allowed to actively participate in them. Through music, theatre, imagination, and collective play, the children at Aksharaa School did not simply listen to a story—they helped bring it alive together.
