For special needs children with Intellectual Disability at a school, Kathmandu
This workshop is third in series of the “Hi, I am a Circle” storytelling workshop where students who are now familiar with the idea of a circle, the concept of big and small, are given opportunity to observe real life objects which are circular in nature. This not only helps them reinforce the concepts they have learnt so far, but also increases their observation of the life around, which is an important skill for the children, specially the one who have special learning needs. The workshop includes various sensorial games to activate the brain and give an experience that allows learning.

On March 10, 2025, The Joy House Collective conducted the third workshop at a school of children with intellectual disability in Kathmandu. This fun-filled participatory workshop began with an empty circular bag that students had to fill with circular objects placed in a mixed pile with various objects. This activity not only gave them sorting abilities but also re-introduced them with the idea of circle that is present in the objects around them. Now, the teachers and students were encouraged to conduct the storytelling session with the “Hi! I am a Circle” story that they had heard in the last two workshops. This ensured that the teachers are trained and are able to continue this workshop in future independently.

Then, the students were introduced to the sensorial activities that gave them an opportunity to work with their motor skills while reinforcing the concept of a circle.

Various images of daily life objects that are circular in nature were introduced them in big and small sizes. This activity helped them learn to sort, match as well as improve in their observation of life around. The workshop ended with students playing with the tongue-pan instrument which is not only circular in shape but also gives healing sound that the students find relaxing. Thanks to Warming Hearts Nepal, the students also enjoyed a circle shaped snack of doughnuts.
